RESTORATION AND CONSERVATION:

The shop of Carlson & Neumann dedicates particular attention to the planning stages of restoration and conservation projects. These begin with determining the necessary preliminary studies using modern scientific methods. Analysis with ultra violet light, x-ray photos, endoscope examination and dendrochronology are investigative tools used more and more often, which enable us to have the knowledge of the object necessary for a correct planning of the restoration work to be done.

The techniques of the conservation work dictated by the principles of reversibility, must adapt each time to the finality of the works, moving between the poles around which the problems of instrument conservation develope: the acoustical potential and the form.

ACOUSTIC FINE TUNING AND ADJUSTEMENT:

Collaborate with musicians to seek an optical acoustical condition for the instrument. This costitues a commitment and a stimulus for all those who work in our shop.
