A violin built in Nicola Amati's workshop one year before his death, by Girolamo II, his only violinmaker son.

The instrument, respecting the usage of the period, bears an original label of Nicola Amati who at that time was still head of the shop. The violin in all its parts reveals a refined craftsmanship, in which an expert's eye recognises Girolamo's careful hand.

This instrument, together with a small size violin by Matteo Goffriller, was donated in 1935 by Baron Giuseppe Zappalą Asmundo to the Civic Museum of Castello Ursino in Catania.
